Cervical Smears

The current guidance is that all women aged 25 – 49 should be screened every 3 years and women aged 50-64 every 5 years. If you are not sure when you had your last smear, please ask at reception for advice. Please make an appointment for a practice nurse.

Flu vaccinations

This is now being done centrally by the Health Board

Health Check

Patients are more than welcome to make an appointment with one of our practice nurses for a general health check. Please ask for a double appointment.

For men—our practice nurse provides a general health check for men with a particular emphasis on preventing heart disease, including blood pressure and cholesterol checks.

For women—you will be offered a general health check, and in addition a breast examination, and a cervical smear. Any questions on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can be discussed and any problems sorted out.

Joint Injections

Both our doctors are available for joint injections. They can provide Joint injection for various conditions from osteoarthritis to other soft tissue conditions. Please make an appointment to discuss.

Diabetes Clinic

Our general diabetic clinic is run by our nurses with specialist training in diabetes. This involves an initial blood test taken by our HCA, with a follow-up appointment with one of our nurses two weeks later. The blood test results will then be available, enabling the appropriate treatment to be discussed and implemented. We also have a visiting dietician every second Monday afternoon.
